Our Heritage
Our Grandparents and Parents strongly believed that it was important to give back to the community, a meaningful part of the wonderful success we are blessed with. Without the diligent efforts of our associates (whom are part of the community), our success would not have been possible. We believe this will be a meaningful way to help assure that giving back can continue into the future.

The Utz Story began in a small town kitchen in 1921. William and Salie Utz began producing Hanover Home Brand Potato Chips in Hanover, PA, in their summer kitchen, cooking about 50 pounds of chips an hour. They sold those fresh chips to small local grocers and markets, primarily in the Baltimore, MD, area. Over the years, demand for the Utz brand grew to include sales all over the East Coast. With this growth came the addition of other types of snacks and the facilities to produce them. New warehouses and Distribution Centers were built to service the expanded geographic footprint.
Today, a full line of snack food products is offered, including potato chips, pretzels, cheese snacks, corn chips, tortillas, veggie stix/straws, popcorn, onion rings, pork skins and more to meet every consumer need. These products are sold under a growing family of brands, which include Utz®, Golden Flake®, Zapp’s®, “Dirty”® Potato Chips, Good Health®, Bachman®, Bachman Jax®, Wachusett® and Snikiddy® and are distributed nationally and internationally through grocery, mass-merchant, club stores, convenience stores, drug stores and other outlets. Currently a 4th generation of the Utz family continues to lead Utz’s growth as the largest independent privately held snack brand in the U.S. This almost 100 year success story is a reflection of the Utz quality….in its facilities, in its products and in its people. Together, effective management and a dedicated work force have provided the very best products to an ever growing marketplace since 1921.
